Dojo Rules
Japan Karate Association of Colorado Springs
- Dues must be paid promptly in order to attend.
- Remove your shoes upon entering the dojo.
- Bow to the front of the dojo upon entering or leaving.
- Remove all jewelry before class.
- Fingernails and toenails must be clipped and feet clean.
- No chewing gum or candy during class.
- No alcohol or drugs before class.
- When adjusting your gi or belt, kneel at the back of the room, turn away from the rest of the class.
- Do not lean against the walls during class.
- Do not cross your arms or place your hands on your hips in the dojo. This is a sign of disrespect.
- Always answer the instructor when sensei speaks with "os", yes sir, or no sir. This lets the instructor know that they were heard.
- Ask for permission first before leaving class.
- If you are late to class, kneel down and wait for the instructor to acknowledge you before joining class.
- Use proper titles to address instructors and fellow students.
- Disrespect will not be tolerated.
- Fighting inside or outside of the dojo means immediate expulsion.
- No talking during class.
- Every student must help keep the dojo clean.
- Keep your gi clean and in good repair.
- Memorize and practice the dojo kun in your daily life.
